While other artists like 3 Door Down, Rascal Flatts and the All American Rejects have recorded songs for the AT&T Team USA Soundtrack, Sarah McLachlan participated by carrying the Olympic torch during the Olympic torch relay in Vancouver on Feb. 11.
Canadian-born McLachlan was part of the flame’s longest domestic torch relay, which began on Oct. 30, 2009. The torch made its way across Canada for 106 days. McLachlan carried it on day 105.

Sarah McLaughlin has been selected to be the first artist to perform live on CTV’s broadcast of the 2009 JUNO awards on Sunday, March 29.
The awards will air from CTV at Vancouver’s General Motors Place and is hosted by Russell Peters.
McLaughlin, a native Canadian who calls Vancouver home, has won the JUNO award eight times, multiple Grammy Awards and the recipient of the 2009 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award for her work as a Canadian artist whose humanitarian contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada. Sarah McLachlan and ‘Ships and Dip V’ will be co-hosting the third annual music cruise hosted by headliners Barenaked Ladies. Artists and comedians include Great Big Sea, The Weakerthans, Gaelic Storm, Sloan and more than a dozen more.
The cruise sail from Miami, Florida between February 1–6, 2009, on the Norwegian Jewel. Stops include Cozumel, Mexico and Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island Great Stirrup Cay.

Sarah McLachlan has teamed up with the ASPCA in a new commercial campaign to help thousands of animals who are abandoned each year.
“This holiday season thousands of innocent, loving animals will be abandoned, left alone to suffer and die, and they need your help right now. For just 18 dollars a month — only 60 cents a day — you’ll help rescue animals who have been left to die, and you’ll provide shelter, food and love. It’s the greatest gift you can give to an animal who needs you,” she says on the commercial.

Throughout the rest of the year and into early next year, you can see Sarah McLachlan at a number of media appearances and concerts promoting her newest album, “Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan.”
“Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan” was released on October 8, just one month after McLachlan announced the end of her 11 year marriage to Ashwin Sood, her long-time drummer. The album has two new songs: “U Want Me 2,” which is described as a mid-tempo love song and “Dont Give Up On Us,” which is described as a more lighthearted, bouncy love song.

It’s almost time for Sarah McLachlan’s October 7 release of the first best-of collection of her long and memorable career.
This Grammy award compilation contains two brand new songs: “U Want Me 2” and “Don’t Give Up On Us,” which compliment the 14 traditional tracks that were chosen exclusively by Sarah McLachlan.

“U Want Me 2″ is one of two brand new tracks originally composed by Sarah with long time producer Pierre Marchand.
It is due for worldwide release on October 7th.
